ISO CCUS Standards (TC 265)

ISO/TC 265 writes the common technical language of CCS: 27914 (geological storage lifecycle — screening to closure preparation, explicitly excluding post-closure transfer, property and licensing process), 27916 (EOR storage with anthropogenic-allocation ratios; Edition 2 published June 2026), 27917 (vocabulary with accounting boundaries), 27919-1/-2 (post-combustion capture performance evaluation). The family is voluntarily adopted into force worldwide — China GB/T package (46878/46875/46872/46871/46870) takes five members identically — which is precisely its power and its limit: interoperability without enforceability. No single ISO standard issues permits, assigns liability or moves money; every operating store pairs ISO methods with a national licensing regime (Class VI, OPGGS, KSpTG, ANP authorisation).
